The Nalanda Awards for Excellence in Education –2004 were announced at a function held at a Hotel in Baroda. Dr. Smt. Mrunalinidevi Puar, Chancellor, M.S. University, was the Chief Guest.
The Awards have been constituted by the Nalanda Knowledge Foundation, a not-for-profit Educational Foundation which also recently established the Nalanda International School at Sevasi - Mahapura, in June 2004.
The Nalanda Awards for Excellence in Teaching comprising of a Cash Award, Trophy and Citation, has been constituted to recognize and reward some of the finest Teachers in Baroda, Anand & Vallabh Vidyanagar. In this, our first year, we have selected an Independent jury comprising of eminent personalities to select the winners for the awards.
The Excellent Educator Award went to Shri Mukeshbhai Kodarbhai Sharma of Vacheshwar School, Savli, the Excellent Innovative Educator Award went to Shri Jay Merchant and the Excellent Principal Award went to Dr. Yogeshchandra Kothari of Shri Krishna Vidvalaya, Baroda. The Awards included a Citation, a Trophy and a Cash Award of Rs. 10000 each.
